Okju and her little brother Dongju are in for a big surprise when their recently divorced father moves them into their grandfather’s home for the summer. The kids have barely adjusted to their new habitat when their aunt also moves in. Living under the same roof for the first time, the three generations slowly learn to cohabitate as a family. One of the most critically acclaimed Korean films of the year, this directorial debut by Yoon Dan-bi is a gentle and insightful observation of the modern family unit. Yoon’s humorous and naturalistic approach to family dynamics has earned her much-deserved comparisons to the likes of Hou Hsiao-hsien and Kore-eda Hirokazu.
