In Vietnam, many young women enter arranged marriages with foreign men they’ve never met in order to help their family make ends meet. Director Wu Yu-ying documents the life of one such woman in her acclaimed award-winning feature film debut. Azhe is a foreign bride who moved to a small coastal town after marrying Long, a crippled man. To continue supporting her family, Azhe works two jobs and suffers verbal abuse from her demanding mother-in-law on a daily basis. As her two daughters grow older, Azhe must choose between maintaining her financial support for her family back home and focusing on the family she’s built in Taiwan.
