Following up on his success as co-writer of Golden Horsewinning family drama A Sun (16th HKAFF), acclaimed Taiwanese novelist Chang Yao-sheng tells a tale of love and devotion with this pitch-black dark comedy. When her beloved husband dies, a woman is determined to bury him with his body intact by retrieving his amputated leg. During the twist-filled journey to overcome the hospital’s bureaucracy and get her beloved’s leg back, memories of their relationship resurface in her mind. Produced and photographed by A Sun director Chung Mong-hong, Chang’s feature-film directorial debut is an offbeat and endlessly inventive film that ultimately proves to be surprisingly moving.
