Every year, we read news reports about indexes telling us the happiest countries in the world. But can happiness really be quantified? Director Tan Bee Thiam offers insights into that very important question with his colorful Black Mirror-esque satire. An office worker living a humdrum life, Ah Bee gets a chance to change his life when his mother gifts him a membership in the Tiong Bahru Social Club, a planned community that uses data and algorithms to achieve maximum community happiness. But when Ah Bee becomes caught up in human emotions, how will the all-knowing algorithm react? Cleverly crafted with deep philosophical questions lying beneath its vivid surface, this comedy may make you question your own personal happiness, and how it could ever be measured.
