Korean maverick Im Sang-soo (The Housemaid, The Taste of Money) returns with a rollicking crowd-pleaser that’s at once a high-energy caper and a moving bucket-list bromance, with a stellar cast thrown in for good measure. Choi Min-sik is Prison-er 203, a terminally ill convict yearning to break out of jail to see his daughter for a last time; during a medical check-up outside prison, he runs into Nam-sik, who keeps death at bay by nicking meds in hospitals. Bagging a mysterious stash of cash, the odd couple soon goes on the run from not just the cops but a brutal (and dying) mob matriarch. Im reworks the last-hurrah road-movie template into an action-fuelled extravaganza, in which two ailing old boys try to live out their last days with a really big bang.
