The producer of numerous hit films and a successful novelist in his own right, Genki Kawamura now makes his directorial debut with an adaptation of his own novel. Masaki Suda stars as Izumi, a young man who realises that his mother, Yuriko (Mieko Harada), is suffering from dementia. As he tries to come to terms with his mother gradually slipping, Izumi discovers a secret from Yuriko’s past. Working with cinematographer Keisuke Imamura, Kawamura depicts Izumi and Yuriko’s bittersweet journey with audaciously crafted tracking shots that result in an enthralling cinematic experience designed for the big screen.
