Director Arum Nam grew up believing that democracy in South Korea was a gift from her parents, whose generation fought fiercely against military dictatorship in the 80s. Her view was shaken when his father, a high-ranking civil servant, was heavily involved in the aftermath of the Sewol Ferry Disaster. On the other hand, her mother has been a fervent feminist and social activist who never shy away from criticising the government. Arum finds herself torn between two disparate approaches to politics within her family and decides to reflect on her role as a citizen in shaping today’s society.
