Pema lives with her three husbands - Teshi and his two younger brothers, in a polyandrous village of the Nepalese Himalayas, but in fact she is only romantically involved with Teshi. After leaving for a trading trip to Lhasa, Teshi does not return. While Pema is expecting a new life, there are rumours concerning the legitimacy of the unborn child. To prove her love to Teshi, she decides to set out on an arduous journey to look for him. A follow-up to the critically acclaimed The Black Hen, Min Bahadur Bham’s second feature is the first Nepalese film in the Berlinale Competition section.
