19-year-old Umut works diligently as a hospital nurse, living with her mother. Her cheerfulness seems out of place in Bishkek's bleak outskirts. Egeman makes a living by stealing scrap metal. He is pressured by his family to marry, but he is afraid to reveal that he has a lover. His lover is a divorced woman who was kidnapped and forced into marriage. Umut and Egeman's lives do not cross paths until a tragedy comes. Based on true events, the film is a scathing indictment of the barbaric Kyrgyz custom of bride kidnapping.
