Event Recap: "My Sunshine" Post-screening Sharing with Hiroshi Okuyama & Sousuke Ikematsu

As My Sunshine screened at HKAFF, the gentle power of director Hiroshi Okuyama and lead actor Sousuke Ikematsu skated into the heart of audience this night.

Speaking of his collaboration with young actors Keitatsu Koshiyama and Kiara Takanashi, Okuyama revealed that the two young actors never received the script, and that he would not explain the emotions of each scene, hoping to let the young actors feel it for themselves, and to let the audience realize the subtle changes in their emotions that naturally flowed from them. Ikematsu, who plays an attentive skating instructor in the movie, is equally warm in real life: he has a good relationship with the actors and feels that they are very pure actors. During the filming, he just wanted them to enjoy moving making.

When asked what they would say to the fragile souls of those who have been hurt, Ikematsu said that everything he wanted to say was in the movie, and hoped that as the snow melts from winter to spring in the movie, audience could also loosen their burden in heart. Director Okuyama noted that the movie may not make the trauma go away, but he hoped that it will help people feel accompanied and remind them that they are not alone when they feel they don't fit in.
