The Hong Kong Premiere of True Love, For Once in My Life was held during HKAFF. with the presence of producer Fruit Chan, director Siu Koon-ho, cast members Cecilia Yip Tung, Tse Kwan-ho, Hui Yuet-sheung, Himmy Wong and more. The movie depicts the ups and downs of a family and marriage over the years, audience was touched after the screening. Director Siu said after the screening that he hoped to convey the message of "true love only comes once in a lifetime” through the movie, and to cherish these precious relationships. Siu pointed out that the movie was adapted from a novel and inspired by a true story, so he and producer Fruit Chan spent a lot of time rewriting the script. Chen also mentioned that the original storyline has been revised by the two of them to make it more “bold” and fluent, with an emphasis on depicting diverse and complex female characters.
When asked about the challenges of shooting the movie with cell phone, Ip said, “I grew up with cameras, so at first I wasn't used to them and had to get used to them again. However, I found it very natural to shoot with a cell phone later on and sometimes I forgot its presence when I was acting.”
