Built in the 1960’s in response to booming housing demand in the Tokyo area, Tama New Town is one of the largest housing developments in Japan. Raised in Tama New Town, director Yui Kiyohara follows a day in the life of three women in the suburb with this gentle, meditative film. Kiyohara’s pensive long takes find the beauty in the everyday, showing the women going about their tasks for the day. They rarely cross paths, but they are connected through the community they share and finding pleasures in the mundane.
