Roomer of the film, Gi-hong, is a self-employed carpenter who works in interior construction. He rents a room in a capacious and cozy house, which belongs to a young couple. Gi-hong spends most of his spare time hanging out with the idle and bored landlord. One day, they discover a dent on Gi-hong’s car roof and decide to investigate the culprit behind it. Lee’s debut feature film explores the interpersonal dynamics in modern life, just as epitomised by the interior design concept of the house in the film—“separation and connection”.
