In the last days of World War II, Aldo leaves his affluent country mansion to seek help after rumors spread that he is hiding Japanese gold. Stranded in the decaying mansion as her mother deteriorates from illness, Aldo’s daughter Tala turns to a flesh-eating fairy for help, only to unleash unspeakable horrors that are worse than the war atrocities that surround them. Infusing Filipino folklore and religious allegories, Kenneth Dagatan’s nightmarish fairy tale is a terrifying trip that evokes the likes of Pan’s Labyrinth and The Wicker Man.
