In Iran, boys and girls attend pre-school and kindergarten together before they are segregated by gender for the rest of their school life. With his powerful and thought-provoking second film, director Amir Toodehroosta shows what happens when children’s natural curiosity clashes with a system that places strict controls on its people. In one pre-school class, a young boy who develops a harmless infatuation for a girl classmate. However, the boy’s interest leads to secrets and feuds that will bring him uncomfortably close to the ways of the adult world.
